Doctors typically do not perform any abdominal migraine examination. Those children ask about the health and illness of family members. There is a certain member of the family of a child suffering from an abdominal migraine who has a migraine.
Doctors ask the patient about the symptoms of this disease. Abdominal migraine in children is diagnosed in this condition:
1. If the child has had an attack of an abdominal migraine at least five times during the last 1 to 72 hours.
2. There are at least two symptoms - loss of appetite, nausea, vomiting and pale body.
3. Gastrointestinal problems or kidney disease.
After this, the doctor conducts a physical examination of the patient and recommends to do some tests to know about this disease:
The patient has to undergo an ultrasound to detect gastroesophageal reflux (GERD), Crohn's disease, IBS and intestinal obstruction.
Endoscopy is done to find out a peptic ulcer, kidney and gall bladder disease.
After the diagnosis of abdominal migraine, appropriate treatment of the disease is initiated.
