What are the tips to reduce the risk of gynecological cancers?

Gynecological cancers are cancers that begin in a woman’s reproductive organs

women are at risk for developing a gynaecological cancer, it’s important for women to understand these diseases and what we can do to prevent them or lower our risk of developing them.

The most types include cervical cancer, ovarian cancer, female internal reproductive organ cancer and vaginal and vulvar cancer.

The risk of developing a gynecologic cancer will increase with age. Cervical cancer was the foremost common cause of cancer death among girls worldwide

When gynecologic cancers are found and treated early, treatment is most effective and often curative.

Although there's no secured way to prevent gynecologic cancer

1. Women should have the first Pap smear(PAP Test) by the age 21.

2. Protect yourself from HPV.

3. Don’t smoke

4. Make healthy choices.

5. Contact your doctor if you notice any of these symptoms.

  • Normal vaginal bleeding or discharge
  • Pelvic pain or pressure
  • Abdominal or back pain
  • Bloating
  • Changes in bathroom habits (increased urination, constipation, diarrhea)
  • Itching or burning of the vulva
  • Changes in vulva color or skin (rash, sores, warts, ulcers)

6. Share your family history with your doctor.
